FAQs

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW TO JOIN US!

I’VE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE, WHERE SHOULD I START?

Firstly, welcome Tropic Mover. We want to make sure that you feel comfortable no matter your ability.  Our instructors will be right by your side adding layers & offering modifications  to make sure you feel supported.  Our recommendation? Start with the Reformer Basics classes to get in the flow, and explore from there.

Please know you’re always welcome to take everything at your own pace.  You’re free to take breaks as you need them & maybe some days you might not want to push it as hard as you did in your last class. that is OK  . Move with your mood is our best advice!

HOW DO I GET READY FOR MY FIRST CLASS?

→ Wear something stretchy and comfortable, and please wear socks (no socks, no play & preferably grip socks - available to purchase in studio))

→ BYO (water bottle, that is). We have a water fountain available. Eco friendly disposable cups are provided if you forgot your water bottle.

→ Bring  a towel - to lay down on the carriage if you don't have a reformer mat ( also available to purchase in studio)

→ Try to avoid a massive meal 1.5 hours before class

→ we have a gender neutral toilet located at the studio. Tropic State Pilates movers only.

I’VE BOOKED, NOW WHAT?

Yay! We can’t wait to have you in the studio!

Arrive at least ten minutes before class, because empty reformers will be given to our waitlisted friends/or keen walk-ins.

CHECK IN - with your instructor when you arrive to class

Pregnant, dodgy knees, cramps? We want to make sure you’re comfortable so tell your teacher before class if there’s anything they need to know about your body. We respect your privacy.

Other than water and towels, please leave all of your belongings by the couch neatly in the waiting area. Please leave shoes tidy at the entrance of the studio.

If you want to take a selfie, photo or a video before/after or during your workout,  please ensure you are asking for permission if any other tropic movers are in view.

IM PREGNANT, CAN I STILL COME TO CLASS?

Congratulations! If you’ve been cleared to exercise by your doctor, you can absolutely join our group classes.

Our highly skilled teachers fully understand the most up to date guidelines around exercise during pregnancy. We have tools to support you during class if you need and can always offer options and alternatives to accommodate you.

Give everything a go! We only invite you to move in ways that we believe every body is capable of. If it doesn’t work for you – that’s ok. Be proud you tried because we will be.

NOT FEELING 100%?

While we believe in sweating stuff out, if you have cold or flu symptoms please refrain from classes until you’re well. Get some spirulina instead.

If you’re not feeling 100% in any capacity please stay at home, preferably in bed while bingeing on White Lotus or Yellowstone.

If you have any injuries please get the all clear from your doctor or allied health professional before attending class.

At Tropic State we encourage you to move your body, however if an injury has you questioning joining a group fitness class, we also encourage you to speak to your allied health care professional before joining a group fitness class.

If you have something else going on with your body, like pregnancy, then let your teacher know that you may need a little bit of TLC in your practice.

Always listen to your body and don’t be afraid to speak up or look your instructor dead in the eye, sometimes we can mind read i in class

IS THERE SUCH THING AS TOO MUCH PILATES?

No way, never. But make sure you do what works for your body, mind, mood and schedule.

If you’re new to pilates, 2-3 classes is a great starting point.

Once you’re as hooked as we are then you can build up to 4-6 classes per week.

To make the most of your Tropic State Pilates experience, give all class styles a go to ensure you’re getting in a range of fun & full-body movement.

WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL OR I JUST DON’T SHOW UP?

Want to go to the beach instead?  Feeling like wine o’clock is coming in hot?  Whatever your reason, we ask that you cancel your class on our website or the Momence App. We don't accept cancellations via email, phone or social media.

Our cancellation policies are in place to ensure that everyone has inclusive access to classes and the studio. As part of a tight-knit community of Tropic Movers, we hope you can understand & cancel out accordingly giving everyone the best chance to make it into their desired class.

HOW DO WAITLISTS WORK?

While we wish we could have everyone in the studio, we want to make sure we preserve our intimate approach to movement. Because of this, classes can fill up quickly! You’re welcome to join our waitlist to (hopefully) scoop up  your spot.

Once you join the waitlist it is your responsibility to stay accountable for your booking. Please treat the waitlist like any other class booking. Be prepared to get into that class.

You’ll be notified via email and/or text up to 60 minutes prior to class start time.
